Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away. is a chronological narrative bringing visitors through an introspective look at human nature. Bringing together over 500 original objects from Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial Museum and 20 international museums and institutions, visitors will explore the four areas of the exhibition: The Encounter, Before Auschwitz, Auschwitz, and After Auschwitz.
Auschwitz, located in German-occupied Poland, consisted of three main camps and a network of some 50 satellite camps at its peak of development. From spring 1942, the concentration camp became at the same time a killing center for Jews. Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away. sheds light on one of the darkest chapters in history and serves as a reminder of the consequences of antisemitism, racism, and hatred.
Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away. is hosted by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and created by Musealia together with the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial Museum.
The presentation of the Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away. exhibition is made possible by a generous gift from Allan Holt in honor of his parents and other family members who were imprisoned in Auschwitz.
