Dr. Alexander Gogun

Dr. Alexander Gogun earned a Doctorate at North-Western Academy of Public Administration, St. Petersburg, Russia, and currently is pursuing a doctorate at the Free University of Berlin. He has taught several seminars at Potsdam University (2010-2012), including the History of Stalinism, the Soviet Union in the Post-Stalin Era and a history of the Soviet Union in WWII.

Alexander Gogun has published a number of written works including monographs, Между Гитлером и Сталиным. Украинские повстанцы. (Between Hitler and Stalin. He has been awarded several fellowships and awards, including, the Shklar Research Fellowship of the Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute on the topic of “Soviet Secret Services on the Occupied Territory of Ukraine, 1941-1944,” from October 2011 to March 2012 and a research scholarship from the Gerda Henkel Foundation (2008-2010) on the topic of “The kin. The Police and the Partisans, 1941-44.” Dr. Gogun has language skills in Russian, Ukrainian, German, English, Byelorussian, and Polish.

For his Diane and Howard Wohl Fellowship, Dr. Gogun researched “Soviet Partisans and the Holocaust in Ukraine, 1941-44.”

Dr. Gogun was in residence at the Center from September 1, 2012 to February 28, 2013.
