Museum Urges Vigilance against Holocaust Denial and Antisemitism as Denier Emerges as Nominee

WASHINGTON, DC⎯As an avowed Holocaust denier becomes a major party candidate for Congress, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum urges leaders to condemn Holocaust denial and antisemitism wherever it appears. Arthur Jones won the Republican nomination for the 3rd Congressional District in Illinois.

"Hatred and antisemitism have no place in our politics or in the public square," said Museum Director Sara J. Bloomfield. "Whenever proponents of antisemitism, neo-Nazi ideology, or Holocaust denial seek a public platform, civic and political leaders from across the political spectrum must continue to speak out and condemn those ideas. We commend the unequivocal rejection of Jones's antisemitism and racism by leaders like Illinois Governor Rauner and the Illinois Republican Party. The broad repudiation of his toxic ideology and his candidacy speaks louder than the hatred of one man."

A living memorial to the Holocaust, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum inspires citizens and leaders worldwide to confront hatred, prevent genocide, and promote human dignity. Its far-reaching educational programs and global impact are made possible by generous donors. For more information, visit ushmm.org.
