The Man Who Saved the Last Twins of Auschwitz-Birkenau

Public Program
A still from The Last Twins

A still from The Last Twins

Young twins sent to Auschwitz-Birkenau were sometimes spared immediate death for a gruesome fate: to become the subjects of medical experiments by Nazi doctor Josef Mengele. One fellow Jew saw their plight and protected dozens of twins imprisoned at Auschwitz. A new documentary tells the true story of that man, Erno “Zvi” Spiegel. Join us for the DC premiere of The Last Twins, which tells a lesser-known story of Jewish rescuers during the Holocaust. Following the film, we’ll be joined by Spiegel’s daughter, Dr. Judith Richter, who will discuss her father's remarkable bravery and the personal histories of child survivors of the Holocaust. Watch the film's trailer.
