The Grafeneck T4 facilty was the first centralized killing center to be established by German authorities within the context of the Nazi “euthanasia,” or T4, program. During the year it was in operation, over 10,000 people with disabilities were killed by the Nazis at Grafeneck.

The Germans entered Drohobycz June 30, 1941. Some of their first published orders deprived the Jews of their civil and legal rights. They confiscated items of value, such as fur coats and jewelry, as well as radios and guns that would help the Jews to be informed or resist the Germans. The Nazis used this loot to support the war effort. As a result there were no taxes imposed on German people during the war.

In the fall of 1941, Nazi Germany implemented a plan to systematically murder Jews in the General Government. This plan was codenamed “Operation Reinhard.” Three killing centers were established as part of this action: Belzec, Sobibor, and Treblinka. Operation Reinhard marked the deadliest phase of Nazi Germany’s intention to commit genocide against the Jewish people.
