Join us for a special live event honoring Holocaust survivors—and a powerful conversation with witnesses to genocides nearly 80 years apart. Holocaust survivor and Museum volunteer Louise Lawrence-Israëls will sit down with Rohingya leader Wai Wai Nu for a discussion moderated by Andrea Gittleman, senior program manager at the Museum's Simon-Skjodt Center for the Prevention of Genocide.
Louise and Wai Wai first met in March 2022 when Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced the US government's determination of genocide in Burma at the Museum. Their conversation on November 10th will shine a light on the ongoing persecution of the Rohingya in Burma and the unique perspective and voice that Holocaust survivors can bring to contemporary issues.
As part of the Evening to Honor Holocaust Survivors and our ongoing mission to confront hate, prevent genocide, and promote human dignity, the Burma’s Path to Genocide exhibit will be open during the in-person event and our virtual participants are invited to explore the exhibition online. We hope to see you at the event.
