    11. [Documents related to the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration's work in Italy] (ID: 49937)

    Description: The United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA) was created at a 44-nation conference at the White House on November 9, 1943. Its mission was to provide economic assistance to European nations after World War II and to repatriate and assist the refugees who would come under Allied control.

    This grouping contains documents relating to UNRRA's work in Italy. The topics covered by the grouping includes, but is not limited to: requests for relief, tracing requests, repatriation efforts, requests for visas, resettlement of Displaced Persons, financial support for refugees, removal of non-eligible people from assistance or repatriation rolls, referrals to other relief organizations, individuals requesting assistance, and organization asking UNRRA for assistance or rations for their members.

    12. Names from files of the Municipal Court in Warsaw (ID: 49935)

    Description: This collection contains names from selected files, so-called “Zg.” of the Sąd Grodzki w Warszawie, i.e. contains cases of establishing somebody as deceased or issuing a death certificate. Cases apply to those who had perished (99 per cent of cases) during the Soviet or, mainly, Nazi occupation: who were arrested either by the Soviets or Germans, deported to the USSR or the Third Reich, sent to concentration camps, or murdered in ghettos or places of extermination. The files contain Holocaust-related Warsaw Municipal Court recognition_as_dead cases from years 1946-1950.

    The files (app. 5-20 pages) contain applications for establishing that someone had died, testimonies of two witnesses on standard forms, related correspondence, and the sentence of the court.

    Description: This source list consists of references to files from the collection: Records of the Jewish Democratic Committee Association of Widows and War Orphans (IOVR). Most of the files were submitted to the IOVR between 1948 and 1950, which indicates that the petitioners were living in Romania at that time. Some of the files include copies of documents such as: birth records, marriage records, naturalization records, forced labor records, hospital records, etc.

    The majority of the documents are written in Romanian.

    Description: Contains a list of Jewish orphans from Łańcut, Poland, who immigrated to Palestine with the "Tehran Children." Next to the names of the children appear names of relatives in Łańcut; names of places where they had been lodged (among them Givat Brenner, Beit Yehoshua and the religious youth village by Kfar Hassidim); and general comments.
