In July 1943 two US military transports picked up about 1,500 Polish refugees located in Bombay and Karachi and transported them via California to Santa Rosa, Mexico. The refugees consisted mostly of women and children who had fled from Eastern Poland in the face of the German invasion in 1941. The refugees remained in Mexico until the end of WWII, but little is known about their further movement(s).
The information on the two transport lists consists of name, place of last residence in Poland, age as of 1943, marital status, profession, and family connections, if any.
