Provenance:
Gift to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in December 7, 2015 of Mrs. Bertha Schwarz (née Teitelbaum), a Belgian survivor who survived the war hidden in France thanks to the efforts of Rabbi Zalman Schneersohn. She then escaped to Switzerland and stayed in Maison Ascher near Montreux, later coming to Israel aboard the R.M.S. Mataroa. She donated three names lists in all, of which this is the third.
1) List of children hidden by Rabbi Schneersohn in Seignebon (includes birthdates and place of birth)
2) List in Hebrew of children who came to Palestine on the Mataroa 9/8/45 Includes age, nationality and where they are settling in Palestine
3) List of survivors (contemporary addresses) who had been in Maison Ascher in Switzerland. (this item)
Photocopies of the above lists were transferred on December 8, 2015 by the Director of the Museum's Photographic Archives, Ms. Judith Cohen, to the Holocaust Survivors and Victims Resource Center, and each of these name lists has an individual record in this catalog.
