Abstract:
This 2 volume work is chiefly a non-alphabetical cumulatively-numbered register of prisoners of the German-run Banjica Concentration Camp, which was located in a suburb approx. 5 kilometers south of downtown Belgrade. A name index to these listings is found as "Imenski Registar" in T. 2 [i.e. volume two], p 561-778. Entries typically include prisoner number from original entry registers, surname, forename, occupation or other affiliation (i.e. such as political party or partisan group), father's and mother's forenames, year of birth, place of birth, marital status, number of children, most recent place of residence, followed by details of date of arrival in the Banjica camp, the incarcerating authority (i.e. usually the "SS", but also other entities such as "SDS", "PGP", "UGB", etc. [Note: a key to these and other abbreviations used in this work is found in T. 2, p. 821-822]), and details concerning fate (e.g. , "Streljan" [="shot"], "Odveden" [="taken away, deported"], "Pusten u slobodu" [="released to freedom"], etc.).
