  • "From 1936 onwards, as a "countermeasure against agitation and atrocity propaganda" the Fuhlsbüttel concentration camp was only to be officially termed as a police prison - nonetheless, "Kola-Fu", "Fuhlsbüttel concentration camp" or the "Gestapo jail" remianed [sic] the synonyms for the Hamburg police department's detention centre. Virtually all resistance fighters in Hamburg were locked up in "Kola-Fu", as were, after 1935, increasing numbers of Jehovah's Witnesses and Jews (e.g. over 700 committals after the pogroms of 9/10 November 1938). Later on, more and more people critical of the regime, rebellious members of the "Swing youth" and all those persecuted by the Nazis as "antisocials" and "parasites of the people" (Sinti gypsies, beggars, homosexuals, prostitutes etc.) were committed to "Kola-Fu", while during the war numerous foreign members of the resistance and forced labourers were also imprisoned there."--http://www.hamburg.de/Neuengamme/fuhlsbuettel.en.html [Website of the Fuhlsbüttel concentration camp and prison memorial].
