Provenance:
This 1982 Klarsfeld publication appears to be a much abridged variation on the three-volume work _Liste alphabétique des personnes, en majorité israélites, déportées par les convois partis du camp de rassemblement de Malines entre le 4 août 1942 et le 31 juillet 1944_ (Bruxelles : s.n.). The Belgian Ministry of Public Health, War Victims Administration (Square de l'Aviation 31, Brussels 1070, Belgium, Attn. Mlle. Christiane Dubiul, le Commissaire and/or Mme. Frances Ria, le Coordinateur; Tel. 011 32 0522 7860) holds the original archival sources from which this publication was derived as well as additional documentation related to Jewish Holocaust survivors from Belgium (see source AA0396 for a more complete description). Note: As of 2002, the USHMM Archives holds 2.3 million documents of this collection on 333 microfilm reels as " Archives du service des victims de la guerre [microform] = Archives of the service for war victims, 1939-1950" in Record Group RG-65.002M. An eight-volume finding aid to this collection has been published as: _CEGES/SOMA microfilm collection : English language inventory no. 982-28653_ (Washington, D.C. : United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, 2000-2002.).

Abstract:
Alphabetical listing of 25,124 Jews and 351 Sinti and Roma (i.e. "Gypsies") deported from Belgium chiefly to Auschwitz via the Malines [=Mechelen] Transit Camp. Entries include birthdate, marital status, transport number, with sometimes a handwritten notation of "R" if the person survived the Holocaust or "E" if he or she escaped or evaded deportation (see "Language and Other Notes" below).
Language and Other Notes:
- Text in French and German.
- "Klarsfeld l'indiqua dans la colonne réservée au convoi, par la lettre 'R' signifiant 'rescapé' ou 'E' pour 'évadé'."--P. [6], Introduction.
- PLEASE NOTE: Researchers seeking information concerning deportees from Beligium would do well to also consult the 2009 4 volume work by Ward Adriaens, et al. titled, MECHELN-AUSCHWITZ, 1942-1944 (Brussels : VUBPress), since this later work often contains portraits of the deportees.
