I was deeply moved by Officer Johns brave actions and I find it tragic that he lost his life simply doing his work. Others are alive today only because of this selfless action.

I hope the museum erects a statue and plaque in his honor as an example to all of the continuing need for heros and the continuing menace of madmen.

We were so saddened to hear about officer Johns. He is a Hero and put his life on the line that day. He seems like a really great guy. Our deepest sympathy to his entire family.

I have been to that museum but could not go recently due to my young daughter with me. Wish I could have met him back in Sept of 08.

This should not have happened. It is sad to see that there is so much hate leftover in this world.

I am sure he will be missed. Again our condolences and sympathy.

Everything I've heard about this man makes him sound like an absolutely wonderful person. My thoughts and prayers have been with his family and colleagues since the incident. May the God Who took him now bring healing, and, if possible at this point, some amount of peace.

I have been a volunteer for fifteen years now at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum. These SPO's risk their lives every day at the museum. They are always professional, polite and just nice people. I had spoken to Officer Johns in just passing and he has always been a good hearted man. The fact that he is a hero speaks of his wonderful character and giving. I know that his spiritual faith was a huge part of his life. When I was at the funeral service I was heart broken and in tears. I remember the pastor who gave the eulogy said that even the man who shot him would have liked him if he had gotten to know SPO Johns. SPO Johns made a huge impact on everyone who crossed paths with him. Seeing the family and friends who came to say their last goodbye is something I will never forget. He was loved by many people. My heart goes out to especially his mother, wife and son. He was a hero that day as he saved lives. His passing has definitely touched my life. Rest in peace, my friend.

To Stephen's wife and children, and everyone he loved and who loved him - I am and will be praying for God's peace to fill up what was taken away from you. Let your memories of him fill your mind, warm your heart and lead you through.

Thank you for sharing him with all of us, I visited there many times and distinctly remember Officer Johns. There's no other definition of a hero.
