The Motorboat

Artifacts Unpacked Video Series

After learning the Nazis planned to round up and deport Jews in early October 1943, the Danes acted quickly.

Jews went into hiding then were taken to fishing ports for transport to safety. In just over three weeks, the Danish resistance and others ferried more than 7,000 Jews to Sweden.

Learn about one motorboat that transported hundreds of Jews to safety.
