I feel so badly that this happened to the family, to the museum, to D.C. to all of us in this country. This is a tragedy that never should have happened. I wish such a terrible act could end forever this kind of violence--hate violence, but , unfortuately, I fear it won't. It is the purpose of so many to end this type of hurtful, hurtful behavior. I'm just sorry- especially for you, his family who have to go on without such a good man, father and husband. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I send you my deepest condolences.

Although I am the son of a Holocaust survivor, I have not visited the museum as of yet. I am well aware both of its seminal importance to our nation's values, and of its extraordinary popularity among visitors to Washington. One only has to look at Stephen Johns's photograph to see what a big heart he had, and an optimistic view of life ahead. Sadly for his loved ones, and for lovers of tolerance everywhere, he paid the ultimate price with his heroism. May his family be comforted with their memories of this brave and loving man; few are privileged to offer such a sacrifice in support of a noble cause.
My thoughts are with his family and friends.

Officer Johns has served in the truest sense, both friends and strangers, in a cause that affects all of us - the planting of memory as a bridge to a better future - when "people are judged by the content of their character".
There is such a profound sadness to his death that others can only send our deepest empathy for you, his family, and continue pledging to think, plan and do (Kavanah) all in our power to create a world that honors the diversity which enriches our individual lives. Thank you

There are no words to truly express the tragedy of the murder of such a fine human being by one so despicable. It was a privilege and an honor to be able to contribute to Officer Johns' family fund as a very small way of letting his family know that we care.

I am so sorry about the loss of Officer Johns, a true hero. I am sad for the family to have to deal with this tragedy. I was in the museum the day this incident happened. Me and my friends were at a window looking out the lobby when this happened and saw what happened. I am so grateful for his courage. Again my gratitude will now be and forever his.

Sadly hate is amonst us. Hopefully one day we can learn to live with one another in peaceful harmony.
Our thanks and prayers go out to the family of this fallen officer for protecting what is sacred to all of us. To be free...to be safe and yet he selfishly laid down his life to protect not only the people who were in the USHMM that day but the purpose for which it was built. To eradicate hatred by remembering those who perished solely because of hate.
His memory is a becan for all to look up to.
As a Jew I thank him. As a human being I thank him. May he rest in peace in the hearts and minds of all of us forever.
