I often travel to the museum there. It is my wish and hope that one of the times that I went, I had the honor of being in the presence of a great man like Mr. Johns. Rest in Peace, soldier of God.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Officer Stephen Johns. We are so sorry for his loss. He died protecting and saving countless others from the evils of a single individual out to kill. Too often we take people like Officer Johns for granted. It is through the actions and dedication of the officers like Officer Johns that we; the public are able to visit and feel safe. It is a grim reminder that hatred based on ignorance is still in existence and that by all of us standing united and non tolerant of these "people" can prevent this tragedy from ruining any other lives. Our thoughts, prayers and gratitude is being sent to the Johns family!

My husband and I made a donation to the USHMM Officer Johns Family Fund. We, like many other Americans, are so sorry that Officer Johns died so tragically. We just don't expect that a lunatic filled with rage will interrupt our workplace and that it will end with the death of a man doing his duty while being the friendly, outgoing person that he was.

We hope that his family will find a way to remember his goodness beyond the tragedy and find peace.

Many of us have been happy to contribute to the family fund, but know that nothing can truly help you at this terrible time. You can be comforted, we hope, by the outpouring of love for a man who was so special. Even though most of us throughout the nation did not know Officer Johns, we feel a real connection to him--and to his family and friends. May you be granted the consolation you deserve, realizing that he made such a difference for all of us. God bless you! The Horwitz family
