As so many others have said, I hope that his family knows that there are people across this country and around the world who may not have known him but who are so grateful to him and grieve his passing. May the knowledge of his valor and the impact that he has made help to ease their pain now and in the years to come.

We were on our tour bus outside about a block away..June 10..when it was all happening. It seemed so surreal. Then to hear later someone actually died and the suspect survived made it 10x worse.
I didn't sleep at all that night in the hotel room....I just kept praying for his family..if he had one.
Then the next day I found out he did and I felt sick all over again so many people hurt by one man's decision that can never be taken back.
So I just kept praying...reasons happen that we just aren't allowed or meant to understand sometimes.....It still just doesn't make sense- you know?

I will never forget my trip to the Museum. It made such a lasting and important impression on me as a young person. The value of this place is unmeasurable. Thank you to Officer Johns for defending this hallowed space, the special people who work in it, and the people who visit it with a desire to learn and grow. May G-d bless Officer Johns, his family and friends and may they all know that he died a true hero, defending and protecting the freedom of thought and compassion that the Holocaust Museum strives to instill in all of humanity.

I just wanted to express again how heartbroken I am that Officer Johns was killed. Such a fine man and we need all we can get like him. His son is such a wonderful representative of what a good Dad he must have been.

Please know that you are in my prayers and thoughts. God be with you.

My deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Stephen Johns. He exhibited great heroism in the face of hatred and bigotry. I applaud him as an American hero and pray that his family can continue on with great pride and dignity. I am planning to visit the Holocaust Museum tomorrow, July 1st, and I will say a special prayer for Officer Johns while I am there. God bless the Johns family and God bless America.
