Gymnasium and high school for boys
Gymnasium and high school students were typically between 14 and 20 years old. A gymnasium student in September 1941 was likely born between 1921 and 1927.
The gymnasium and high school for boys was located on Otylii. The street name was changed to Ottilienstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. See
www.lodz-ghetto.com for a map of Otylii and the rest of the Lodz ghetto.

User Comment:
I selected the student Aleksander Fogelbaum from the student list. When I searched this name in the database, it came up with no results. I then tried searching under the name A Fogelbaum instead, and the result Alexander Fogelbaum came up. Because Aleksander and Alexander are the same name, I decided to continue research on this person. Alexander Fogelbaum was born in 1926, which means that he would've been 15 years old when he would've attended the Gymnasium High School. Therefore, I concluded that Alexander Fogelbaum was the student that I had been searching for.

Great job. Also, note that Alexander is listed as having lived at DUNKLE 20 and KUHLE 6 53 in the ghetto. His occupation is "Schueler" (student), and it looks like he may have moved to FRANZ 66 on June 20, 1942. This last point is very important, because it would mean that Alexander was not deported to Chelmno during the mass deportations of early 1942. If you haven't done so already, please enter the change of address date in stage 2 with the accompanying info about his various street addresses in the Comments section.

I searched the last name Fogelbaum with no first name. The search returned 11 results. When clicking on these names, I found a woman by the name of Chaja Malka Fogelbaum, who would have been 30 years old when Alexander was born. This woman also had all the same addresses as Alexander and moved on the same date he did to the same address. Therefore I concluded that Chaja Malka Fogelbaum is the mother or close relative of Alexander Fogelbaum. In addition, the website also gave me the dates and addresses to which the Fogelbaum family moved

Good job. I agree. It looks like they moved from DUNKLE 20 to KUHLE 6 53 and then FRANZ 66 on June 20, 1942.
