For me, its a great feeling to know that there are such good-hearted people like Angelina Jolie who put their celebrity to good use and spread awareness of the horrors and troubles going on in Africa and around the world. She has put so much dedication and heart into helping these people improve their lives and she shows such compassion and such caring it is unbelieveable. What she does is truly incredible-if only there were more people like her who took the time to help those in need, hopefully with all the awareness she has spread, there soon will be.

I sit here, a college student, most of my funds paid for and yet wondering how I can help.. It's so easy to be ignorant to the current situations aroudn this globe, because as American's many of as are simply "too busy". For someone like Angelina who has everything in the world to take matters into her own hands is simply amazing. I hope by this we can raise international awareness of the hardships these many people face. It is people like you Angelina that are changing this world one step at a time and giving hope to us who want to help. Keep changing it, I will try to do my part as well... Thanks!

I just wanted to thank Angelina for all of her work she has done with the UNHCR. She made me realize how fortunate i am to live in a country that has so much. I am now so grateful for food to eat, a roof over my head and just a chance to live a long, happy life. After watching Angelina's documentary with Dr. Sachs and reading her book notes from my travels, i have become aware of all that i can contribute to these people who are less fortunate than i am. Living where i liveand being associated with the kind of people who live near me, it is very easily to get rapped up into very superficial things, after seeing and reading about all of Angelina's research, I have become more aware of the ridiculous amount of money i spend on unimportant thingsand the amount of food i waste, etc. . I think about the poor people in Africa who are starving and have ripped clothes. So i guess i just wanted to thank Angelina for waking me up and making me realize that there are people out there who need help and who are less fortunate than i am. I know i'm still just a kid, but i have now realized that any litttle thing i can contribute can make a difference. So i wanted to thank, Angelina for her hard work and dedication. You have truely inspired me to get up and do something about the poverty in other places.

I just wanted to thank Angelina Jolie for the work she has done with the UNHCR. The movie beyond borders moved me to look farther into the refugee situations in the world, and got me to realize that there are so many people in the world who have less than I do. I used to have no idea what I wanted to do with my life, but thanks to my new found awairness, I have decided to persue a carrier in medicine, and become a doctor. I want to help people who really need my help, and it's the least i can do, when they gave me a purpose in life.

The Power of One is a movie that was made in 1992. It depicts the life story of a young English boy growing up in Africa. Brilliant film! So after I searched this website, I found the movie, and the Journey Through Eastern Congo to be very similar. For those that made this information possible, I thank you. I thank you for being knowledge seekers. You are individuals who are willing to take that step into the unknown, not knowing what you will find, but certain you will have a story to share. And when a story is shared, the memory of someone will be passed on... The pictures, the commentary, the knowledge, all were real and artistic. Each one of you stood out like a sore thumb, yet you touched someone’s life. I remember one specific comment on the website, something along the lines of, “No one knew what I did for a living, my name, or if I had money. They just knew I came from a more fortunate country.” Awesome!! All of you have given them something, whether it had been a smile, a curious thought, or most important, a feeling of HOPE! When we, as human beings, lose hope in something, life seems to get 10 times harder. Thank you for providing another human being with strength to keep going. It is now my job to pass on this information.

It’s a Power of One!

These people have done so much and endured so many hardships that it is a great thing to know that there are people like Angelina Jolie and John Prednergast to inform so many people about it.

Angelina Jolie has done wonders for all the people in Africa. And I thought it was very brave of her to face the living conditions and the dying children both her and John Prednergast are people that we should all look up to.

Both John Prednergast and Angelina Jolie are doing Africa and us a great service by working tirelessly to bring these issues to our attention. I admire anyone taking the road less chosen, not sitting back (it is so easy to do so, to be complacent). The site would be helped if you instruct us all as well as to whom in our government should we contact about these issues, to ask for support for Africa? Is there any charitable organization to donate to that you support, that you are know is outstanding and getting the funds to the people who need it? Such addl information is most welcome. Thank you very much.

I agree that it is very impressive what Ms. Jolie and Mr. Prentergrast are doing to inform the general public.

I spent a lot of time reading and listening to the journals. It was so informative. Looking at the faces of these people it makes it impossible to ignore what is going on. I'm so tired of not knowing how to help stop this nonsense of innocent women and children, men, young and old, dying and suffereing.

Viewing the information on this website has been one more piece of evidence that has pushed me to the brink of frustration. How do we come together in America to help stop this once and for all?

I have been very touched by your accounts. The more that is told and is spread by the internet and news services the better, but as long as there are people who do not believe these things are happening in the world, the less that will be done for others.
