Gymnasium and high school for boys
Gymnasium and high school students were typically between 14 and 20 years old. A gymnasium student in September 1941 was likely born between 1921 and 1927.
The gymnasium and high school for boys was located on Otylii. The street name was changed to Ottilienstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. See
www.lodz-ghetto.com for a map of Otylii and the rest of the Lodz ghetto.

User Comment:
I searched the database under the fuzzy setting for the last name of "Kurlander" and the exact setting for the first initial of "H." It returned two possible matches, one of which was a female that I was immediately able to eliminate as being our student. Hersz Kurland (the last name is incredibly close, and was likely difficult to read in the album) was born in 1923, which makes him the appropriate age range for attending Gymnasium. He resided at both a Holz and a Halbe address while living inside the Ghetto. His notes indicate a date of 03.01.1943 with no further information attached, so I will check further to see if this is a deportation date or a moving date. Nothing other than this date was listed in his entry notes.

Excellent work. Were you able to find out anything more from his work identification card?
