Gymnasium and high school for boys
Gymnasium and high school students were typically between 14 and 20 years old. A gymnasium student in September 1941 was likely born between 1921 and 1927.
The gymnasium and high school for boys was located on Otylii. The street name was changed to Ottilienstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. See
www.lodz-ghetto.com for a map of Otylii and the rest of the Lodz ghetto.

User Comment:
By searching the database under the exact setting for the first initial of "M" and the fuzzy setting of last name of "Barac," I was able to find one young man that fit the age range for attending Gymnasium. Maksymiljan Baran was born on June 27, 1927. He resided at a Franz and an Insel address within the ghetto. He had an occupation of Schueler listed as well as a deportation date of December 27, 1942 listed within his notes.

Great work. I agree this is the person who signed this name in the album. We don't know what the December 27, 1942 date means, actually--it's not listed as a deportation and could be something else. It does tell us he was still in the ghetto as of that date, however.
