User Comment:

I ran a fuzzy search for "Ester Plucennik" and found one result - Ester Rajza Plociennik. The birth date listed would make her the proper age to have attended School #9A.

I agree you've found the person who most likely signed this name in the album. You'll also find her listed as Ester Rajza Polciennik, with the same DoB and address--possibly a data entry error on the spelling, but please add this additional spelling to this stage as well.

Note that the Hohensteinstrasse address is listed as an A.M. address, telling us that Ester and her family lived at this address before and immediately after the creation of the ghetto.

Best of luck in the next stages.

The date of death is listed under "Ester Rajza Plociennik", which was the entry that I found when I ran a fuzzy search for "Ester Plucennik". The entry does not state the conditions of her death - whether she was taken to Chelmno, Auschwitz, or died within the Ghetto itself. She would have been about 11 years old when she died.

Under the assumption that Ester's last name was Plociennik, I ran an exact search for that name in the general names database. I found three results listed at the same address (HOHENS 28 66) as Ester. One, Rachel, was born in 1907. This birth date would have made her about 25 in 1932 when Ester was born, leading me to believe that Rachel was Ester's mother. There were also two other children listed at the same address. One, Hersz Moszek Plociennik, was born in 1936. The other, Dawid Majer Plociennik, was born in 1938. I believe these boys to have been Ester's brothers, as they were listed at the exact same address. Dawid died 21 November 1942, though like his sister's, his entry does not state the conditions of his death. Dawd would have been about 4 years old when he died.

We do know more about the circumstances of her death: a fuzzy search of the hospital records turns up a "Estera-R PŁUCIENNIK", born in 1932 and living at an address with the number 28 in it. She is listed as having died of "Tuberk. Hirnhautentzündung", or tubercular meningitis. As soon as you add the additional spellings of her name to both stages (Polciennik to stage 1, Pluciennik to this stage) and cite your sources appropriately, I can confirm your work on both stages. Thanks!
