User Comment:

I was only able to find one record for Miriam.  By searching her first and last name as "fuzzy" I was able to pull up one record which contained the added address and birthdate.  When I searched for an exact match of her first and last name I was not able to find any records.

Good work! Thank you for clarifying your process of finding her name. You'll also find her listed as Mirjano Dwojra Machtynger (same addresses, DoB is only one month off)--please add this spelling and any information you find in that record to this stage as well. Thanks!

User Comment:

I found the parents by looking in the inhabitants list for people with the same last name and location as Miriam (Sperlinggasse 13 2).  The first individual, Szmul, was born in 1886, which makes him old enough to be the patriarch of the family.  The person we listed as the mother, Zlata, was born in 1909.  She could have been the mother or the sister of Miriam, but we decided to set her as the mother in this case.  Both of these individuals lived at Sperlinggasse 13 2, which is why we listed them as relatives.

I agree that these are likely Miriam/Mirjam's parents.
User Comment:

I looked through the Labor Cards for Machtynger and they began at Macznik, so I am unsure where Machtynger would fit into that. I looked through but could not find her. I also searched through the lower L’s, but could not find her. I did a Google search and searched Miriam by both names and her address. I found the name Mariam Dworja several times, but she always had different last names Then, I searched Mirjano Dworja Machtynger, a name she is also listed under, and found her old address AND a new address, as well as an occupation! Her occupation was a student and she moved Polnoca 5.

There was no date given with the change of address. I Google searched the address and also Mirjano by different spellings. I was unable to find any information. I have to assume that she was taken in one of the deportations to Chelmno or another Death Camp, because of her young age she probably would have have been transfered to a labor camp.

Did you find this information in the source you cite or elsewhere?

Just because there is no additional information does not mean she was deported to Chelmno--it just means the sources are not available yet that might clarify what happened to her. Please be very careful about making assumptions about what happened during this time period.

Please remember to add the other spelling of her first name to stage 1.
