User Comment:

I conducted a search for the name "Mania Orensztajn" requesting an exact match, however; there were no nmaes that turned up. A fuzzy search Gave the name "Mania Urensztajn," could the student's "U" have been mistaken for an O? She is the right age having been born in 1933. My fiding and request for approval is submitted on the basis of this question.

(the name Urensztajn is not listed in the Student list)

After considering the comments provided by the ushmm and additional research I have come to the agreement that the child is mostlikely Mina because of her birthday

Approver Comment:
I agree that Mina is a more likely match than Mania. As you suggest, she would have been the right age to have signed the album for school #8b in the fall of 1941. Good luck in the next stages!

User Comment:

As requested I have listed the data base used on Jewishgen.org. You have to create a user account (free) in order to use the resources, and there is a lot of sifting through the information, but once you locate the student and the address, simply match the address to other poersons listed in the data base. It's an excellent tool quick and easy to use to give these children their lives back in some way.

I agree you have found Mina's family. JewishGen's Lodz Ghetto database is built on the same collections as the Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants database available through our site, but I'm glad the tool in JewishGen worked well for you.
