School #7 was a school for girls in Lodz. The students in #7b attended classes in the afternoon. Most students were between 9 and 14 years old, meaning that they were born between 1927 and 1932.
School #7 was located at Ulica Zgierska 70. The street name was changed to Hohensteinerstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. You can read more about Ulica Zgierska at

User Comment:
The person I found has almost the same name, is in the right age range, her occupation is Schuelerin. I don't know what to do with the second address line, N SZAZERSKA 19. I couldn't find it under Street Names in the Lodz Ghetto either. Also, I wasn't sure what to do with the information under Notes: UMZ 10.2.44 W 1, I guess Umz stands for Umzug, which would then be the moving date..

I agree! As you suggest, in 1941 she would have been 13 years old, the right age to attend school #7b.
I think you're right that the UMZ date represents a move, which means that Estera was still in the ghetto in the winter of 1944. This means she survived the major deportations of 1942, and there's a chance we might find her in the next stages. You can enter this date into an appropriate field on the next stages, and I look forward to seeing what else you find in the resources ahead.

Mirjem and Estera both lived at the same addresses, so I assumed that they were sisters.

User Comment:
A person named Estera Galanternik was registered as a survivor by the Jewish Agency for Palestine in 1945. I assume it's the same person.

The fact that this record indicates that she lived in Lodz is a good sign. Can you find any information with a birthdate attached that might confirm this for us?
