I began searching for information on this boy within the Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants Database, Vol. 1-4 & 5, refining the search to look for Last Name: Maj, First name: R, both with the filter of the DM Soundex. There were no results. I refined the search again to look, instead, for Last Name: M, First Name: R, with still no results. The third time, I looked for only Last Name: M, and got 52 results. Within these results, I found many with the last name "Maj," and began by continuing my search until I reached entries with the first name starting with "R". I found three that fit these initial parameters: Maj, Rachmyl ; Maj, Rachmil; and Maj, Rachnyl. The student I was searching for was in School #3, which held students born between 1926 and 1934. "Maj, Rachnyl" did not fit these, but the other two did, with birth years of 1927 and 1929.
Despite the birth years being two years apart, the birthdates are extremely close, and the addresses are similar (Sulzf 13 16 and Siegfried 51 for Rachmil, and Sulzf 13 16 and Siegfr 51 for Rachmyl). These similarities as well as their names being almost exactly the same led me to believe these are, in fact, the same boys. The entry for "Rachmil" also included a note; a date of "13.8.42". Nothing else was included. could this be the date he changed addresses within the ghetto?
