User Comment:

The name is an exact match and the birthdate is in the right range.  There are no other possible matches.  He is also listed as having "schuler" for his occupation.

I agree that you have found the student who most likely signed this name in the album. All other candidates are too old or too young to have attended school #14b. Excellent work.

User Comment:

A transport number is given, but there is no date.  That said, it is my impression that numbered transports listed in the Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants database went to Chelmno.  So, I'm not too optimistic.

Thank you for entering the transport number. Most of the transports we have seen that were numbered did indeed go to Chelmno, but I appreciate your caution in waiting to see what other evidence we find before drawing that conclusion.
User Comment:

Majer may be his younger brother. In the students list there is only one other student with the last name Klepacz and they have the same housing addresses while in the ghetto and the same transport number. There is also a man born in 1903 named Mojszer Klepacz who was born in 1903 and has the name first address as Majer and Mendel while int he ghetto. He also has transport number 5 I believe that this is either their father or another family member. I may have also found the mother Dwojra Klepacz. When I searched the database for klepacz she was the only women who came up with the same two address as Mendel as well as the same transport number. It says she was born in 1904 therefore if she is his mother, she would have been 24 when she gave birth which was not an uncommon age to be married and having children at that time.

Expert Reviewer Comment:
Great work finding Mendel's family members! Due to the same addresses, I believe it is highly likely that Dwojra is indeed Mendel's mother, and Majer's age would put him at the correct age to be a siblings. Did you see Lajb Klepacz? He also lived on Insel 24 25 and would be about the right age to be Mendel's father. I would also take a look at Mojse Klepacz, he has the same first address but a different second address- he still could be related though. There are two Mojse's, take a look at both. Also take a look at Szlama Kalma Klepacz, she could be related as well.

Great work so far, take a look at the transport number, that will help you identify what happened to Mendel and his family. Thank you for starting this file!

I agree with your conclusions. Birponcz already found the date of birth and transport number, so you can remove those from this record. Can you figure out what happened to Mendel?

I also agree that Lajb Klepacz is a good match for Mendel's father. You can go ahead and enter his information if you agree.
