User Comment:
In the initial search we found no responses. We looked up H Fajgenblat, but couldn’t find a match, even under the “sounds like” feature.
We then looked up Fajgenblat only, and found a Chaim Hersz Fajgenblat born on October 17th, 1928. (This fits the School #14B where students were born between 1926 and 1931.)
After looking at Chaim Hersz Fajgenblat’s profile we found his ghetto address to be Hohens 38 94 and his ghetto note to be AUSG 10.9.42. So he was sent to most likely Chelmno on September 10th of 1942.
The street address we found to be extended to Hohensteinstrasse.

I agree with your findings and thanks for the thorough comment. Keep up the great work in the next stages.

An excellent thought to look for Hersz as a middle name. I agree that you have found the student who signed the album.
Keep an eye on that date from the ghetto note--you'll want to correlate it with information from other databases or the secondary source materials before drawing any conclusions about it.
See you in the next stages!

We found that during the first half of September 1942 a special action was carried out in which over 15,000 people, mostly children under the age of ten, elderly and sick were transported to Chelmno.
We concluded at this point that he most likely was killed.
We searched through the list of last names matching Fajgenblat, to see if we could find his relatives. (Children of Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants Database.) To figure if they were related or knew eachother we were looking for a match in the address of Hohens 38 94.
We found a boy by the name of Rywen Szymszo Fajgenblat who was born on November 3rd, 1926 and lived in Hohens 38 94 as well. His ghetto note says “ AUSG 10.9.42”.
It appears that both boys were transferred to Chelmno on the same date. They were most likely both killed at Chelmno.

I agree with your conclusions. In early September 1942, the residents of the Lodz Ghetto were subject to the "Gehsperre-Aktion," a rash of deportations to Chelmno that targeted the very old and the very young--a tragic time that you have correctly interpreted and cited here. Thank you for helping to complete Chaim Hersz' record.
