Gymnasium and high school for boys
Gymnasium and high school students were typically between 14 and 20 years old. A gymnasium student in September 1941 was likely born between 1921 and 1927.
The gymnasium and high school for boys was located on Otylii. The street name was changed to Ottilienstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. See
www.lodz-ghetto.com for a map of Otylii and the rest of the Lodz ghetto.

User Comment:
Abram was the only "A. Berkman" I could find who was a good match based on birth date for a gymnasium student in 1941. He was born in 1927, making him 14 years old at the time. In addition, his occupation is listed as student. All the rest of the possible "A. Berkmans" were disqualified based on gender, age, or name spelling.

Good work. I agree that this is the A. Berkman who most likely signed the album, for the reasons you list in your research notes. Thank you for your thorough comments, and good luck in the next stages.

User Comment:
My experience thus far suggests that when a tranport number was recorded, it usually indicated a deportation to Chelmno (in which case Abram Berkman would have been killed on arrival). However, without a deportation date, it is difficult to know for sure if this is what happened to him.

Thank you for adding the transport number. I hope we learn more information about what these numbers mean soon.
