School #23
School #23 was a school for girls and boys in Lodz. Students were between 8 and 20 years old (most were 9-14), meaning that they were born between 1921 and 1933.
School #23 was located at Ulica Jagiellonska 16. The street name was changed to Bertholdstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. You can read more about Ulica Jagiellonska and the rest of the Lodz Ghetto at

User Comment:
There are two spellings of what appears to be the same name: Pessa and Pisa Kaufman. They were both born on the same date (May 4, 1922) and lived at the same Alt-Market address, one at #5A and one at #5-14, which leads us to believe that this is one and the same person, the names and addresses were just recorded differently.
Approver Comment:
I agree these are the same person! Please note the additional address on Franzstrasse listed on Pessa's profile, as well as the date in the ghetto note; you'll find still another address on Pisa's profile (Inselstrasse) and a date in 1943 attached to it. The more information we have in this profile, the better we'll be able to research in the subsequent stages.
Since school #23 may have taught either boys or girls, or both, please also check out Petr Kaufmann, born in 1934.
