School #13B
School #13 was a school for boys in Lodz. The students in #13b attended classes in the afternoon. Most students were between 10 and 15 years old, meaning that they were born between 1926 and 1931.
School #13 was located at Ulica Franciszkańska 29. The street name was changed to Franzstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. You can read more about the schools on Franciszkańska at

User Comment:
I went on tho the name search through the museum and found out hhis information. I do know that he was deported to chelmno 11.9.42 which means that he did not survive. i also found a Aron Kaufman in the data base but it said that he had another last name that he was known by which is Sobkowski he was born in 1926 he had an occupation which was a schueler what is that?
Approver Comment:
Schueler is the German word for student.
You'll be able to list the date of deportation in stage 2 when you get there.
For many of the names that were signed, it is difficult to know exactly who signed the album, especially in a case like this where there are multiple possibilities that all fall within the known age range for the school. (There's also an Abram Kaufman, born in 1931, who is also a possibility.) Our usual procedure in this case looks like this:
1. Enter all the possible names into separate "name" fields on this stage, along with the birthdates
2. Use the comment fields to tell us whose birthdate is whose, why you think all these students are possibilities, and anything else we need to know.
3. Research all three names in the stages that follow (using the comment fields frequently to help other researchers know who you're talking about!) and see if you can find any other information that might help you out.
Good luck!

Please explain how you determined that he died at Chelmno, as well as which A. Kaufman you're speaking of (since there are 3 choices).
