Student Profile: D. Joskowicz

We searched through the Joskowicz and there were others that were of age but, had incorrect occupations. Dworja Joskowicz was born in 1923 which would mean she was in the later years of Gymnasium and Highschool. She lived at Korn apartment 9, apartment 10 and West 66. There are no extra notes on her but there are not many people with the surname Joskowicz many of which are born in years in which her parents could have been born. We will continue to search other people both around her age and her parents potential age that share the same address in order to find out what could have happened to her.  

edit: I input all of Dina's information as well. Although, I think the fact that she is not labeled as a student seems a bit strange. She is definitely the correct age. So we will follow them both!

I agree with you that Dwojra is the most likely candidate to have signed the album, based on her birthdate and on her listing as "Schuelerin." Dina Joskowicz, who I think is the person to whom you were referring regarding the occupations, is also a possibility. Depending on when the record used in the database was taken, it is possible that it refers to the period after the closure of the schools, when former students were assigned to labor in the ghetto. I think we should follow both of them through the next few stages; if you wouldn't mind, please add Dina's information to this stage as well, in separate fields from Dwojra's.

One more thing--Dwojra is spelled with the J before the R. As soon as you correct the spelling and add Dina's information, we'll be able to move forward on plowing through the more than 1,000 Joskowicz records for her parents (good luck, it's a huge task but you're up for it!). See you in Stage 2!

We read through all 1201 profiles that sounded like Joscowicz, and were able to find four possible family members for Dwojra and three for Dina.

Potential relation to Dwojra: Itla Joskowicsz born in 1900, could have been a mother or other elder female family member. Motel Joskowicz, born in 1894, would have been the appropriate age to by either her father or elder male family member. Dyna Joskowicz, born on 7/8/1937, could have been her younger sister/relation. Rysia Joskowicz, born 15/11/1926, could have been her sister or cousin and was also a student. They all share the same surname, and have the common addresses at Korn, 9, 10 and West 66.

Potential relation to Dina: Chaim Mordka Joskowicz, born on 20/6/1917, could have been a slightly older male relation such as young uncle, cousin or brother. Icek Joskowicz, born on 30/4/1913 also could have been a slightly older male relative. Pinkus Mendel Joskowicz, born 12/5/1921, could have been her brother or cousin. They all share the addresses ALEXHOF  26, 36 and Z WOLA.

I am leaning towards Dwojra being our person for two reason, one she was registered as one, two, she has potential parents. However, I do realize there is still a good chance Dina could be our girl.

Good grief! That's a ton of Joscowiczes. Thanks for sticking with it, and for being willing to go along with the possibility of Dina having signed the album. Your reasoning is sound throughout, and I can't wait to see what else comes up.
