User Comment:
After searching the database under the exact setting for the last name Feldbaum, I returned approximately 10 names. 9 of these names were immediately eliminated due to the fact that they were all women. The only remaining name was of a boy named Hersz Azryl. He was born in 1931 (which fits the age range for School #13B) and his occupation was listed as Schuelerin. His notes list a date of 09.11.1943. I cross-refernced his name with the Lodz Ghetto database on jewishgen.org, and it states that this was his deportation date.
Expert Reviewer Comment:
I agree that this is the most likely candidate to have signed this name in the album. Thank you for your research and good luck for your research!

I agree this is the only possible candidate to have signed this name in the album. What other information is available in JewishGen? Their resources and ours are built on the same databases.

User Comment:
According to the Lodz Ghetto database, Hersz shared a residence with 4 women (each is listed twice). Gitla (1898) is whom I believe to be Hersz' mother. Ita (1922), Rywka (1920), and Chaja (1922) are his sisters (I believe based on their dates of birth). Gitla, Hersz, Ita, Rywka all share the same deportation date of 09.11.1943. According to secondary sources, a transport arrived on November 8,1943 at Auschwitz and a transport arrived on November 17, 1943 at Auschwitz. His exact transport number is not listed, nor is his precise date of arrival at Auschwitz (I believe that it is the November 17, 1943 date of arrival-only 3 Lodz jews were registered into the camp that day). The trail stops cold with Hersz there, though. I believe he may have been gassed upon arrival at Auschwitz. I will continue to look for anything that may be contrary to that, though.

I do believe you have found Hersz's family! What I find interesting is that Chaja does not have a date listed under the notes section. That could possibly mean his fate was different than that of her family. Thanks for your extensive research notes!

We do not know that he was killed upon arrival. Have you looked in the later stages to see if he survived or was moved to another camp?
