User Comment:
I searched for Chana Blusztajn in the Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants Database. I found only one person born between 1928 and 1934--the age range for the school she attended, School #7A. Chana Blusztajn had two ghetto addresses: Hohenstrasse 84 25, and Zgierska 84. She was born on January 15, 1933. All of this was found in the Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants Database.
I also found in the Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants Database, that she was deported to Chelmo on January 14, 1942. It goes on to say "DOM 24".
Approver Comment:
I agree you've found the person who most likely signed the album! Thanks for your thorough note about your process. Zgierska (check the spelling!) and Hohensteinstrasse were the same street, just with the pre-war Polish and wartime German names, so I'm not surprised to find her listed at both.
Before you draw conclusions about her fate in the next stage, look again at that date and read it with the secondary source materials. Were there deportations to Chelmno in January 1942? Also, consider what DOM means--usually, it means that someone moved to a different address in the same apartment. Put it all together--what do you think the ghetto note means?
