Gymnasium and high school for girls
Gymnasium and high school students were typically between 14 and 20 years old. A gymnasium student in September 1941 was likely born between 1921 and 1927.
The gymnasium and high school for girls was located on Otylii. The street name was changed to Ottilienstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. See
www.lodz-ghetto.com for a map of Otylii and the rest of the Lodz ghetto.

User Comment:
In the notes fields from the Bergen Belsen memorial list, Ada's occupation is listed as Büroangestellte or Clerk. She is also recorded as having Polish nationality and her prisoner category is Jewish.
According to the Secondary Sources: "In October 1944, the SS transferred more than 250 Lodz ghetto Jews to Buchenwald-Elsnig, where they were forced to work in an explosives factory. Despite starvation rations, 12-hour work shifts, and brutal treatment by guards, some prisoners reported conditions as being better than at Auschwitz. In April 1945, the SS evacuated the camp in a train carrying explosives and bound for Berlin. Near Potsdam, Allied planes bombed the transport, killing many of the prisoners. The Germans hunted down and murdered most of those who managed to escape the inferno. Few prisoners survived."

Since Mannatou's research suggests that Ada and her sister Lucia survived, it is very possible that this record refers to the same Ada Borychowska (though there is no birth date to confirm).
