School:
Gymnasium and high school for boys
Gymnasium and high school students were typically between 14 and 20 years old. A gymnasium student in September 1941 was likely born between 1921 and 1927.
The gymnasium and high school for boys was located on Otylii. The street name was changed to Ottilienstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. See
www.lodz-ghetto.com for a map of Otylii and the rest of the Lodz ghetto.

User Comment:
I found two possible matches (or one) for J. Malykant. The first name I found was Jerzyk Malykat born 19 Jul 1924 and he lived at Alexhof 30 flat 4. The second name I found was Izrael Jakub Malykont born 1924 and he also lived at Alexhof 30 flat 4. I'm not sure if the boys are the same person or if maybe they are cousins living at the same address.
Expert Reviewer Comment:
Great work John!
I think that Jerzyk and Izrael are the same boy given their similar birthdates and addresses. I'll mark this as possible.

I agree that this is the most likely candidate to have signed this name in the album. Both records seem to represent the same person given the same address and similar birth dates. Good luck for your research!

Okay, when I was searching for people living at Alexhof 30 flat 4, I found Boruch Malykont b. 1899 (also appears with surname Malykat b-day 19 July 1899), Ruchla Malykont b. 1900 (also appears with surname Malykat and b-day 24 Aug 1900), and Seweryn Malykont b. 1930 (and appears as Sewek Malykat born 6 Dec 1930). With this information I'm now certain that Jerzyk and Izrael are the same person. I also found on JewishGen.org under the Dachau Concentration Camp Records a Georg Malykont b. 19 July 1924, in Litzmannstadt (Lodz) and he lived at Alexanderhof. His prisoner # was 97303. He arrived to Dachau on 01 Sep 1944 and he died on 28 March 1945. I did a search on google and found the name Jerzyk is a variation of Jerzy which is a variation of the name George. So it's possible that this is the same Jerzyk/Izrael from stage 1. I wasn't sure if I should add this information into stage two or not.

Great work! I agree with all your findings and conclusions. I think you should add the information from JewishGen into stage 3 rather than stage 2. Thanks for helping complete Jerzyk/Izrael's record. Feel free to complete his biography as well.

Please list the information from JewishGen into the appropriate fields on the next stage. You should be able to find this information in either stage 3 or 4 on this project site as well.

Thank you for adding this information. He died in Dachau two months before the camp was liberated. Thank you for helping to complete Georg's record; you can now complete his biography, if you wish.
