Gymnasium and high school for girls
Gymnasium and high school students were typically between 14 and 20 years old. A gymnasium student in September 1941 was likely born between 1921 and 1927.
The gymnasium and high school for girls was located on Otylii. The street name was changed to Ottilienstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. See
www.lodz-ghetto.com for a map of Otylii and the rest of the Lodz ghetto.

User Comment:
Using the USHMM survivor and victim database, a record of a Stella Rein born in 1891(http://www.ushmm.org/online/hsv/person_view.php?PersonId=1961305) appeared . I referenced her last name with the USHMM photo archives and found a picture (http://digitalassets.ushmm.org/photoarchives/detail.aspx?id=1160525 )of Marta Rein who was a sister of Wanda Folman -maiden name Rein- whose mother name was Stella Rein. The text attached to the photo stated that Wanda other Stella taught at Ab gymnasium and high school in Lodz. Additionally the text goes on to say that Stella would be deported and murdered at Auschwitz in 1944 while in her fifties which is plausible for Stella as she was born in the 1890s. Also there was another photograph (http://digitalassets.ushmm.org/photoarchives/detail.aspx?id=1162296) in the Archives titled "Stella Rein, the headmaster of the Lodz ghetto's high-school, posing with young girls. ". Therefore could Stella I am researching actually be a teacher and not a student ?

It is possible. We've found a number of students' names that have turned out to be teachers' names. Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for your close attention to sources.
