I agree you've found the person who most likely signed the album. In 1941, he would have been 13 years old, the right age to attend school #21b. Nice work! In the future, please remember to leave a note in the "research notes" field explaining to me and your fellow researchers how you came to the conclusion that this was the person who signed the album. Good luck in the next stages!

User Comment:
The labor card page wasn't working properly. So, I used the JewishGen database of Lodz labor cards to search for Nusen Lustman. I found Natan Lustman. He was a student who was born in 1928 and lived at the same address as Nusen. His occupation was lehrlng or apprentice. Therefore, I concluded they were the same person. In addition, his labor card indicated that he had been working since June 10, 1942, even though the card itself was dated November 12, 1943. This is exciting, since it suggests better odds for Nusen/Natan's survival.

What an amazing find! Now that the labor card page is working again, I took a look at Natan's card--through a quick glance at other cards, it appears that while all cards have a "working since" date, very few of the cards had a date for the card itself. The ones that I found that had card dates appeared to be stamped with the name of the division for which the person worked as well (another child in the end of the L labor cards worked in Natan's work division and his card was stamped with the division name and a date on the front; others had different division names stamped on them). All of the dates stamped on the front of the cards were in 1943 or later, even though all but one of the cards I looked at with a stamped date listed an "arbeitet seit" date in 1942. Does the stamped date refer to a reissue of the card, or perhaps to a change in labor division? Either way, it appears that Natan began work in June 10, 1942, before the issue of this card.

User Comment:
Even though the birth date is off by one year, the name, month and day are exact matches. In addition, his occupation is listed as lehrling, and he is registered as a Polish Jew from Lodz. So, I find it very likely that Natan survived until the ghetto was liquidated in August 1944 and was held at Auschwitz before being sent to Mauthausen. Based on secondary sources, it is unclear whether he was sent directly to Mauthausen; though, the Mauthausen records appear to suggest it.

I agree that this information points to the same Natan Lustman from stages 1 and 2. This is very exciting. I hope that his testimony helped to clear up his trajectory to Mauthausen--did you find anything to that end there?
