Gymnasium and high school for girls
Gymnasium and high school students were typically between 14 and 20 years old. A gymnasium student in September 1941 was likely born between 1921 and 1927.
The gymnasium and high school for girls was located on Otylii. The street name was changed to Ottilienstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. See
www.lodz-ghetto.com for a map of Otylii and the rest of the Lodz ghetto.

User Comment:
I searched the database under the fuzzy setting for the last name, and returned the last name Pedzel with a total of 6 inhabitants at the same addresses. The girl that I found that most closely resembled whom we were looking for is Czeslawa Pedzel. She fits the age range with a birth year of 1927, and her occupation is listed as Schuelerin. With a quick google search of the name Czeslawa, I found out that Czesia is a nickname/variation of the name Czeslawa in Polish. The notes for Czeslawa also indicate that she moved to the Sperling 15 15 address on 17.8.42

Great job! I think you are correct in your assumptions. You have her address marked as Sperlinggasse, 15, 15 but she lived at Sperlinggasse 1. Please fix the address and we'll mark it as possible.

User Comment:
While searching the database under the exact setting for the last name Pedzel, I returned 5 other names of people that resided at the same address as Czeslawa. Pejsach is the only male residing there (28.11.89), and I believe that he is her father. Tola and Fola I believe to be the same person, but the first name is spelled two different ways (they share a birth year of 1897). Ewa (1924), I believe is her older sister. There doesn't appear to be any work, transport, or further information for Czeslawa that I can find in this section.
Expert Reviewer Comment:
Based on how you cross-referenced the street addresses and last name, I believe you have correctly identified Csesia's parents and sister.
The change of address date is also relevant, since it means that the family managed to avoid the major wave of deportations to Chelmno in Winter/Spring 1942. If none of them were caught up in the Gehsperre action of September 1942, then there is a slightly greater chance that at least one of them survived.

I agree that these are Czeslawa's family members. Were you able to find any additional information about her in the next stages?
