Gymnasium and high school for boys
Gymnasium and high school students were typically between 14 and 20 years old. A gymnasium student in September 1941 was likely born between 1921 and 1927.
The gymnasium and high school for boys was located on Otylii. The street name was changed to Ottilienstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. See
www.lodz-ghetto.com for a map of Otylii and the rest of the Lodz ghetto.

User Comment:
Chinka Dubner, born on November 26, 1895, lived at the same adress as Izrael Dubner. She could possibly be his mother. Stangely, their street was named after Adolf Hitler (Adolf Hitler 28), which might have been a discreet way to insult Hitler.

Nick -- I think you've got a match here. The birth date is in the range, and the name is an exact match. I also think you are probably right about Chinka possibly being Izrael's mother. As for their street address... streets are usually named after people to honor them. If this was a ghetto address, then it is very likely that the Nazis named it after Hitler to honor him. Note that from Adolf Hitler 28, the Dubners moved to Brunnen Strasse 22 Flat 12. Good job!

It's not necessary to re-enter data (ie, name, birth date, etc.) if you find it in the *same source* as one that you have already used. On the other hand, thanks for entering Chinka's name in the database. Good job!

This information is accurate to the record you cite. While the year of birth is one later than we had seen in records for Izrael in previous stages, the fact that the year is only one digit off and the birthdate is only three days later in June suggests that we are indeed looking at the same person as we did in the first two stages.

Israel Dubner was living in Pennsylvania in the USA when he was intereviewed by the USC Shoah Foundation.

Thank you for collating Israel's records with his testimony. Have you had the chance to listen to his testimony with the USC Shoah Foundation yet? You can use some of that information to flesh out his biography when you write it.
Thanks for helping to complete Israel's record!
