Student Profile: Lola Fajersztajn

I searched Lola by her full name given and searched it on Fuzzy and DM Soundindex. I got several Pola’s, but they were all born in 1910 and 1900. I’m looking for someone born between 1928 and 1932!

I then search Fajerszt* and L* and found Lea Fajersttajn, a student born in 1929. I Google searched is Lola was a possible nickname for Lea and it was possible. It is even more possible that she wrote Lea, but her handwriting was illegible. I also searched the student list again to see if a Lea Fajersztajn was already noted for- she was not on the list.

Lea F. lived at Hohens 32,2 and then changed addresses to West 66. There is no date for her change of address listed. She was born October 10, 1929. 

I began searching by Lea’s last name for family members in the Lodz Inhabitants base. The name Laja Fajersztajn came up, so I clicked on that and Lea’s profile came up. Turns out Laja/Lola is the nickname used for Lea. 

I found a woman named Rywka Fajersztajn in the Lodz Inhabitants base and she happened to have a Ghetto Work ID card. She was a housewife but her “acquired skill” was a weaver. She lived in Hohens 32/2 and worked at 34 - Teppicherzeugnisse Abt. II and started working September 17, 1943 at the age of 43 years old. She was born in 1900. Her worker number was 4317. I believe this could be a sister, mother or aunt of Lea. They live in the same domicile. In another search of the Lodz Inhabitants base of Rywka, it says she was born June 7, 1900 and lived in both Hohens 32/2 and West 66, just like Lea.

In my search, I also found Szajndla Chaja Fajersztajn, born February 17, 1927. She was also a student and lived in Hohens 32/2 and West 66. She would have probably been either a sister or a cousin.

I also found Szlama Fajersztajn, born September 27, 1935. His occupation was listed as “KIND” meaning an artist. He was listed living at Hohens 32.3. He could very well be a cousin or brother of Lea.
