User Comment:

I initially searched the name "Mina Tobiaszewicz" under the Lodz ghetto database. I searched her full first and last name. However there were no matches. I then kept her full last name and now only added her initial of her first name with an asterisk. I found a name, "Mindla Tobiaszewicz."  From this I concluded that "Mina" may be a probable nickname for "Mindla." Also since she was born in the year 1921, she was 20 years old when she signed her name. This age correlates with the age of a typical student in school #8A. In addition, I found her ghetto address:

Hamburgerstrasse, 21, 31

Gartnerstrasse, 72

Approver Comment:
I agree that there are no other candidates immediately evident, based on dates of birth, but Mindla would have been 7 years older than any of her classmates in school #8A.

User Comment:

In the next stage of research, I attempted to determine potential parents or family members, based on similar addresses, last names, and birth dates. I first searched the exact last name only, "Tobiaszewicz." Based on the address and birth dates I concluded that "Hendla Tobiaszewicz" would be the probable mother. Both addresses were :

HAMBURGER 21 31
GARTEN 72

Her birth year was in year 1890 and she shared the exact address as "Mina Tobiaszewicz." In addition both of them were transported to Chelmno, Poland on the exact same transport. Also based on secondary sources, it is likely that both of them were gassed in the vans thus killing them.

In addition, while searching for another family member, I came across a probable brother named, "Berek Tobiaszewicz." He was born on 15 Feb 1916, making him 25 years old. He is not a student in any of schools at that time. His occupation states, "Handschuhmach." He also shares a similar address to Mina and the mother. However unlike the two, I was able to discover that he was not sent to Chelmno, Poland, based on secondary sources. I found that he had a change of registration on the date November 14, 1941 to BASAR 1.

Expert Reviewer Comment:
I do agree that you have found Mina's mother and sibling. However, when you search just the last name, I came up with five other people with the same last name and the same address. Frajna (1914), Icek (Oct 17, 1923), Mordka (Oct 17, 1923), Rachela (June 26, 1921), and Rywka (August 15, 1918). They were all on transport 13, except for Icek. He is listed as "ABG 12.12.42 A.G.". This could possibly be when they moved addresses, we do not know for certain. Please be sure to look at all posibilities for family members when filling out this section. Please add this information to the record.

Also, I agree that transport 13 is the transport that the family was on, however is Chelmno the only place they could have been deported to? Secondary sources uses dates to discover where the victims would have been sent to, so what makes you associate transport 13 with Chelmno? I agree that they were most likely deported to Chelmno, but are you positive that is the answer?

Please clarify why you chose Chelmno, and add the other family members and their information and I will mark this as possible. Thank you for your research and good luck in the next stages!
