User Comment:

I believe Irka Markowicz is I. Markowicz beacuse she is the only female with these initials born within the same time frame of the girls born who attended School #8A. There are three ghetto addresses listed: KRAMER 1, KONIGSB 47, and ABG 7.9.42 TAL 32.

Expert Reviewer Comment:
I agree you've found the student who most likely signed this name in the album, and agree with your reasoning. For your information ABG is a German abbreviation for either moved or deported, depending on the context. You'll find more information on German words and abbreviations in the community center.
You can add the change of address date on the next stage. Good luck for your research!

I also agree that this is the person who signed this name in the album. Please list the date of her move in the appropriate field on the next stage.

User Comment:

I believe Irka Markowicz was tranferred from Lodz to Chelmno because ABG 7.9.42 is listed under her 'Notes'section of The Holocaust Survivors and Victims Database and the date, September 7, 1942, coincides with the dates victims were tranferred from Lodz to Chelmno. I also assume that Irka died on this date because according to Secondary Sources those transferred to Chelmno were killed in gas vans.

Expert Reviewer Comment:
I agree that this could possibly her deportation date altough we cannot be certain. Were you able to find any of her relatives? What about Laja, Zejnwel or Rachela Markowicz? You can also add them to her record. Good luck for your research!

I agree that this is a possible deportation date, but we can't know for sure--as was noted on the first stage, this might just refer to a move within the ghetto between apartments. Have you been able to find any information on her in the next stages, so we know whether or not she was deported in September 1942?
