User Comment:
I searched the database under the exact and fuzzy setting for the last name "Lodznik", but the databse returned no matches. I then searched the database under the DM Soundex option, and was able to find Estera Malka Laznik. She was born on June 1, 1932 (which places her in the appropriate age range for attending School #8A) and her occupation was listed as Schuelerin. Her notes also indicate that she was deported on January 27, 1942 on transport 12. No other notes are available under the listing for Estera Malka.

I agree that this is the most likely candidate to have signed this name in the album. She might have signed the album using her middle name. Spelling differences of the last name can be a result of translation mistakes or simply that the handwriting was difficult to read. Good luck in the following stages!

User Comment:
By searching the database under the exact setting of the last name of "Laznik", I was able to find several indivudals that shared the same address as Estera Malka. Izrael Laznik (born 1891) was the oldest male listed at the residence, and I believe that he was Estera's father. Hinda (born 1891) was the oldest female listed in the home, and I believe that she was Estera's mother. Chaim (born 1918), Chawa (born 1922), Dawid (born 1921), Elka (born 15.12.1925), Hersz (born 23.12.1929), and Rachel (born 01.12.1941) were the other children listed as having lived at the residence and I believe that they were Estera's siblings. Unfortunately, the family all shares the same deportation information of January 27, 1942. They were tranported on Transport 12, and according to secondary sources, this particular date indicates that they were taken to Chelmno, where they likely perished in the gas vans. I was unable to find any further information on the Laznik family.
