User Comment:
From the names that appeared on the database, we decided that Lejzor became Luzer. Knowing that names changed and also deducing from what we knew, it seemed that Luzer because of being born in 1926, and the only one born in the 20s, had to be the same person as Lejzor.

Based on the available records, I agree that it is likely you are correct; it doesn't hurt that his occupation is listed as "schueler." Please note that the Lodz Ghetto Database also lists an alternate spelling for Luzer's last name as "Eizenberg," and add submit that alternate spelling to this site, too!

Luzer apparently lived at Litzmannstadt 18 before moving to Alexanderhof Strasse 28 Flat 55 in the ghetto.

We checked all data bases, and the only site that had a possible match for our student was found under Pinkas HaNitolim I- Register of Survivors (JewishGen). The first name, Lejzer Ajzenber, was close in pronunciation to out previous records and the last name remained the same. We noted that this new spelling of the first name was very similar to the first name given for the student at the beginning stages of our research. The records do not have an exact match, but we understand that birth dates can get mixed up along the transport path. The deviation of the previous birth date to the birth date of this candidate is only 3 years. We can deduce that this finding of Lejzer Ajzenberg is in fact the student we are looking for. His fate was that he was alive at the time of liberation and was put into a Displaced Persons Camp: Sandbostel near Bremervorde. We could not find and records of what happened to Lejzer in between the time of his time in the Lodz Ghetto to his time of Liberation.

There is definitely an entry for "AJZENBERG, Leizor" from Lodz in Pinkas HaNitzolim II. Without a birth date, we can't confirm that this is the same student, but it is a good start. However, I cannot find any sign of "Lejzer Ajzenber" in Pinkas HaNitzolim I. I think you are thinking of the entry in the World Jewish Congress list for "AJZENBERG, Lejzer," born 15-Apr-1923. Last residence is listed as "Kielce" and he was a DP in Sandbostel near Bremervorde. It's possible that this is the same person, but there is not enough info for a confirmation, and you are correct that the birth date is off (as is the last residence). I'll mark this as "possible," but we should remain skeptical about whether the WJC person is a match... The Pinaks HaNitzolim II person is a much more likely match, and you should enter that data as well, along with all spellings of his name from the different sources.
