A search for 'L* Bitner' turned up only Laja, whose birthdate made her the appropriate age to have attended school #17A.

I agree this is the most likely candidate to have signed this name in the album. Please look for her as well in the 5th supplementary volume of the database.

User Comment:

There were two records for each member of Laja's family, whom I connected via matching addresses. Laja lived with her father (Chil, b. 1900), mother (Brucha, b. 1895), and siblings Salomon (b. 1916, possibly a cousin), Rywka (b. 1933), and Basza (b. 1937).

Like Laja, Chil and Rywka were also deported on April 14, 1942. There is no corresponding deportation listed in the Secondary Source list, so where they went is uncertain. Beyond a move to two different addresses for Salomon on November 13, 1940, his fate is unclear.

Brucha and Basza's profiles present contradictions or unclear terms. In one of Basza's profiles, she is listed as being deported on April 14, 1942, and in the other it says she died on that date (which is entirely possible, but worth noting). For Brucha, one profile lists her as being deported on April 14, 1942, but the other profile says she died on October 24, 1941.

I agree with your conclusions on this stage. Please add any additional information you found in the 5th volume for her name, date of birth, and addresses to stage 1, so I can mark both stages as confirmed.
