School #6
School #6 taught boys and girls who were deaf or hard-of-hearing. Since it was the only school for children who were deaf in the Lodz Ghetto, its students ranged in age from 6 to 20 years old, and were born between 1921 and 1935.
School #6 was located at Ulica Limanoskiego 45. The street name was changed to Alexanderhofstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. See
www.lodz-ghetto.com for a map of Ulica Limanoskiego and the rest of the Lodz ghetto.

User Comment:
For Hannah Wortman I found Chana Wortman born 08/12/1934 and living at Alexhof 46 flat 3. She had a change of address dated 10/9/1941.

I agree you've found the student who signed this name in the album. Nice work catching Chana and Hanna as analogues of one another.

User Comment:
For Chana's family I found Chaja Sura born 27/07/1896 and her address is given as Naterhof 46 flat 3 and I'm guessing that must be a typo. Also Mende Wortman born 26/02/1932, I'm guessing they are Chana's mother and older brother.

I also think that Naterhof is pretty certain to be a typo. I wonder if we can find out the destination of her move within the ghetto--maybe in another record?
