Gymnasium and high school for boys
Gymnasium and high school students were typically between 14 and 20 years old. A gymnasium student in September 1941 was likely born between 1921 and 1927.
The gymnasium and high school for boys was located on Otylii. The street name was changed to Ottilienstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. See
www.lodz-ghetto.com for a map of Otylii and the rest of the Lodz ghetto.

User Comment:
When we searched on the JewishGen database, we noticed that Chil's last name was spelt differently than listed by the previous researcher. We added and updated the other spelling.

Good research, and good job catching your classmate's error! According to the Lodz Ghetto Database, Chil also lived at Rauch Gasse 34 Flat 18 in the ghetto.

User Comment:
We continued research from where the previous researched left off. In the deported/type box it is written /AUSG, which is translated to mean "deportation to Chelmno". Since there is no data listed before the "/", we are just assuming that he was deported to the Chelmno Concentration Camp. Also, for transport/destination, it is write TR 22/2. We assume that 22/2 is his transport number. We do not have a deportation date either.

Good job, and indeed, the JewishGen database notes indicate that "/AUSG" meant deportation to Chelmno. However, without a deportation date attached to the transport number, we will have to list the conclusion that Chelmno was the transport destination as "possible" rather than "confirmed."
