User Comment:

I found this student by searching "sounds like" for the name that was given, Mosze Tiger.

This student has two addresses listed in the Ghetto

Address 1: ABRAMOW 42

Address 2: HOLZ 16 33

There is a note that says AUSG TR 14

There is no date.  Does this mean he was on Transport 14?

Approver Comment:
That is correct; the note means "deported on Transport 14."

I agree that Mojsze Tygier is the most likely candidate to have signed the album as Mosze Tiger, although I think you've entered his name backwards (it appears as Tygier Mojsze rather than Mojsze Tygier). In 1931, he would have been 10 years old, an appropriate age to be attending school #13b. Thank you for adding his addresses and your process note. I look forward to seeing what you've found in the next stages!

User Comment:

Do we know when Transport 14 went out?  I searched Secondary Sources and could not find it.

According to the Notes, transports with AUSG in front of them went to Chelmno, so can we assume that he was killed there?  In which case, could we list the Camp Deported To as Chelmno?

I searched the inhabitants database for everyone with the surname Tygier. Itta was born on July 24,1905, which would have made her 25 when Mojsze was born in February of 1931. She has the same two addresses in the ghetto and was listed as being deported on the same transport #14. I don't think we can say for certain that she was his mother, perhaps an aunt. But I think it's likely that she was.

The name I added for a sibling is a girl born on January 17, 1935. She would have been four years younger, has the same address and transport information and her occupation is listed as "schueler."

I found the person I've listed as the father the same way. His DOB is October 19, 1897 and he has the same address and transport information. His occupation is listed as "angest," for which I could not find a translation.

Approver Comment:
We don't know when Transport 14 went out. We're not entirely certain, but we believe that all numbered transports went to Chelmno, in which case (as you suggest) he would have been killed there. We have found AUSG records with dates that do not line up with known deportations to Chelmno, but in this case we are reasonably certain that was the destination given the presence of a transport number.

I agree with your reasoning for finding Mosze's parents. "Angest" is short for "Angesteller," which means that Szyja Tygier was a clerk of some sort. Thank you for helping to complete Mosze's record--if you wish to do so, you are now ready to add a biography to his profile.
