User Comment:

We determined that the Mosze Sarna in the database is the same boy who signed the yearbook because it was the only name that matched the search. Also, he was in School #13B meaning he would be born between 1926 and 1932 and Mosze was born in 1929.

Other Information:

Ghetto Address:  Franz 76

Ghetto Note:  Weisenhaus

When we were looking for family members in the same database we came across MOJZESZ SARNA who is a boy with the same birthdate as Mosze Sarna, but had different ghetto addresses. This Sarna was also listed as Schueler meaning he is a student.

Other information on Mojzesz:

Ghetto address: Hamburger 9

Ghetto address: Hamburger 9 7

Ghetto Note:  AUSG 14.1.42 TR1

If we follow this boy over Mosze, then we would know that he was deported on Jan 1, 1942 with the transport number 1.

I agree that both are possibilities--and, depending on when the records were taken, that these two might be the same person (given the similar names and birthdates). Could you go ahead and enter Mojzesz's name on a second line under "Name"? I do want to continue to follow both and see what turns up. Thanks!

OTHER INFORMATION

Ghetto Address: FRANZ 76

Ghetto Note: WEISENHAUS

When searching Mosze Sarna, only one name is found which is Moszek Sarna. Because these names are so similar and Moszek's birthdate falls between the appropriate years of 1926 and 1932, we were able to make a confident guess that this is the same person.

However, when searching M Sarna, the name Mojzesz Sarna appears with the same birthday, leading us to believe that these are the same person, and both matches can be assigned to the signature Mosze Sarna. His ghetto address is listed as Hamburger 9 and Hamburger 9 7, an occupation of schueler and a ghetto note of AUSG 14.1.42 TR 1.

I agree that it is possible that Mojzesz and Moszek are the same person (potentially a Yiddish and Polish version of the same name, even). Go ahead and add Mojzesz Sarna as a variation on the name (another line in the "Name" category), and add Moszek's addresses to your comment. I'm really interested to see what else you find out about Mojzesz/Moszek.

Thanks!

If we follow Mojzesz, Chana Rywka Sarna may be a sister since she has the same ghetto addresses and ghetto note. Her birthdate is July 31, 1931 and her occupation is listed as Schuelerin meaning she was a student.

Szmul Sarna may be a brother since he has the all the same information as Mojzesz. His birthdate is August 12, 1933 and his occupation is listed as schueler meaning student.

Udla Sarna may be the mother since she has the same ghetto addresses and ghetto note. Her birth year is 1901 and her occupation is listed as Hausfrau meaning she was a housewife.

I agree with you on Mojzesz' relatives (there's another sister in there, too), and your reasoning for having selected them is sound.
User Comment:

This research focuses on the individual listed under Mojzesz Sarna with ghetto addresses Hamburger 9 and Hamburger 9 7 and occupation of a schueler.

We decided that Udla Sarna is Mojzesz's mother because she has the same ghetto address as him and was born in 1901 which would make her approximately 28 years old when she had Mojzesz. Her occupation is a Hausfrau and she was deported the same date as Mojzesz.

We also decided that Chana Rywka Sarna is Mojzesz's younger sister, born on 31/7/1931 and Szmul Sarna is Mojzesz's younger brother born on 12/8/1933. Both of these individuals have the same ghetto address and deportation date as Mojzesz.

No further information could be found on Moszek.
